Official Terms and Conditions
November 1, 2026
Millman Media Inc. (“Sponsor”) offers this conditional rebate promotion (the “Promotion”) for preorders of The Number: Chasing the Biggest Edge in Sports by Chad Millman (the “Book”). These Terms explain which purchases qualify, how to submit proof, the event that triggers a rebate, and how rebates are paid.
The rebate is conditional and is paid by digital Visa prepaid card. It is not guaranteed. If no Qualifying Event occurs, no promotional rebate is payable. The Book purchase remains subject to the retailer’s ordinary terms and any applicable cancellation or refund rights.
1. Sponsor and contact information
Sponsor is responsible for administering the Promotion and paying all rebates due under these Terms. Questions may be directed to [email protected]. Initial preorder proof must be submitted through the online submission form specified in Section 5. The official Promotion webpage is available at chadmillman.com.
2. Who may participate
The Promotion is open to individuals who are at least 21 years old at the time of the qualifying preorder and are legal residents of the United States, including all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Employees of Millman Media Inc., The Volume or Penguin Books, and their immediate family members (spouses or domestic partners, parents, children and siblings), are not eligible. The Promotion is void where prohibited by law.
3. Purchase and submission periods
The period for new qualifying preorders begins November 3, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time and ends November 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (the “Purchase Period”), subject to the copy cap and the early-closing or extension provisions below. Retailer order records determine when a preorder was placed. All times in these Terms are Eastern Time.
Preorders placed before the Purchase Period are also eligible as described in Section 6. All initial preorder screenshots must be received by Sponsor by November 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (the “Submission Deadline”), unless Sponsor expressly extends that deadline under Section 8. Screenshots already received by Sponsor for earlier preorders count as submitted; those purchasers do not need to send them again.
4. Qualifying Book purchases
All formats of the Book are eligible, including hardcover, paperback, e-book, audiobook and other editions offered for preorder by an online book retailer. Purchases may be made through any online retailer offering legitimate preorders of the Book, using the retailer’s normal checkout. No special purchase link, promotional code or separate participation fee is required.
A qualifying purchase must be a genuine preorder of the Book at the retailer’s ordinarily available price. The price may not include a separate fee or premium for participating in this Promotion. Ordinary retailer discounts are permitted; the rebate is based on the actual discounted Book price charged. Sponsor does not sell or fulfill the retailer’s order.
There is no limit per person or household. Multiple copies, multiple orders and gift purchases may qualify, subject to the applicable overall copy cap. Each copy can qualify only once. For a gift purchase, the purchaser who submits proof receives any rebate, rather than the gift recipient.
Books purchased in whole or in part using subscription credits, loyalty points or rewards points are not eligible for this promotion. Access provided solely through a subscription or streaming catalog is also ineligible. For bundled purchases, only the separately itemized price paid for the Book is eligible; bundles without a separately itemized Book price are excluded. Audiobooks purchased directly for a stated dollar price remain eligible, subject to these Terms.
5. How to submit preorder proof
Complete the required information, including your first and last name and email address, and upload a legible screenshot or screenshots of the retailer’s order confirmation at chadmillman.com by the Submission Deadline. The proof must identify the retailer, Book title or edition, order number, order date, quantity and Book price excluding taxes, shipping and other fees. A shipping address must be visible for physical orders; for digital orders without shipping, provide the purchaser’s billing address or other evidence of eligible U.S. residence.
Only the copies identified in a timely submission may qualify. Reusing an order confirmation, submitting it from another email address or resending the same screenshot does not create additional qualifying copies. Do not send full payment-card numbers or information about unrelated purchases.
Submitting proof is a request to participate under these Terms. Sponsor will confirm by email the number of copies accepted, subject to final payment and eligibility verification, and include a link to these Terms. The confirmation does not guarantee that a Qualifying Event will occur. A retailer preorder alone does not reserve a place within the copy cap. If you do not receive a confirmation, contact Sponsor; a missing confirmation does not invalidate proof that Sponsor actually received on time.
6. Copy cap and earlier preorders
The initial cap is 1,000 copies preordered during the Purchase Period for which Sponsor receives qualifying screenshot submissions. Places are allocated by the timestamp of receipt through Sponsor’s designated online submission form, counting copies rather than purchasers, orders or emails. A submission for five copies uses five places. If fewer places remain than the number of copies submitted, only the available number can qualify, and Sponsor will identify the accepted quantity in its confirmation.
Preorders placed before November 3, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time do not count toward the 1,000-copy cap. They remain subject to the other eligibility, proof and payment requirements. Previously received screenshots satisfy the initial submission requirement without resubmission. Total eligible copies under this Promotion may therefore exceed 1,000.
Once the cap for Purchase Period copies is reached, no additional copies in that group will be accepted unless Sponsor increases the cap. Sponsor will post notice when the cap is reached. A cap increase must state the new total and how additional timely submissions will be accepted; any waiting submissions will be considered in their original receipt order. Earlier preorders remain outside that cap. Sponsor may not reduce the cap or remove already accepted copies through a later amendment.
7. Qualifying Event and official result
The initial “Qualifying Event” occurs if any one of the following NFL teams wins Super Bowl LXI, the championship game for the 2026 NFL season scheduled to be played on February 14, 2027 (the “Game”): Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears
One listed team winning the Game is sufficient. A listed team reaching the Game without winning does not trigger a rebate. A team that does not reach the Game cannot satisfy this initial Qualifying Event. All eligible purchasers are covered by the same listed teams; no team selection is required.
The NFL’s official final result for the Game, as published on NFL.com or another official NFL record, determines the winner. Sponsor will apply the stated outcome exactly as written using that official result. If the Game is shortened but the NFL declares an official final winner, that winner controls.
If the Game is postponed or suspended and officially rescheduled or resumed, the Promotion follows that Game. If it is permanently canceled and not rescheduled, or no official winner is declared, the initial Qualifying Event does not occur and no rebate is due on that basis. Any separately announced additional Qualifying Event remains governed by its own published terms.
8. Early closing and favorable changes
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sponsor may end the Purchase Period early by giving at least 24 hours’ advance notice of the revised cutoff on the official Promotion webpage and through the podcast, social-media and Discord channels used to promote the offer. Sponsor will update active promotional materials and include notice in podcast promotions where reasonably practicable. Reaching the disclosed copy cap closes acceptance of additional capped copies without a separate 24-hour notice period.
Early closing does not remove the rights of purchasers who placed otherwise eligible preorders before the revised cutoff. They may submit proof through the original Submission Deadline, subject to the applicable cap and receipt-order rules. Already accepted copies and eligible earlier preorders retain their original eligibility.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Sponsor may extend the Purchase Period or Submission Deadline, increase the copy cap, add teams to the initial Qualifying Event, or add other future events that can trigger the rebate. Sponsor will publish a dated update on the official Promotion webpage specifying each change and any new deadline. Additional events must identify the exact outcome, official result source and treatment of postponement or cancellation. Purchase extensions apply only to genuine preorders placed before the relevant event outcome is known.
Added teams and additional Qualifying Events apply to all eligible copies, including copies already accepted. They supplement the original trigger and do not remove or narrow it. A purchaser receives only one rebate for each eligible copy even if more than one Qualifying Event occurs. No amendment may increase a purchaser’s participation cost, reduce an earned rebate or impose a new condition that takes away existing eligibility.
9. Rebate amount
If a Qualifying Event occurs, each eligible copy earns a rebate equal to 100% of the actual Book purchase price paid to the retailer, after discounts and price adjustments, excluding sales taxes, shipping, handling and all other fees. The rebate is delivered in the form of a digital Visa prepaid card with that face value. It is not a refund to the original payment method.
The final amount charged controls if it differs from the preorder estimate. Only the paid Book amount attributable to eligible copies is included. There is no separate per-person or household rebate cap, but each copy is subject to the applicable copy cap and may be rebated only once.
10. Final payment and order verification
Before a rebate is paid, Sponsor may require a final retailer receipt or order record showing that the timely submitted preorder was paid in full and fulfilled, the final Book price, and the quantity retained. For physical copies, fulfillment means the retailer shipped the Book; for digital copies, it means the Book was delivered or made available to the purchaser. Sponsor may also request reasonable confirmation that the eligible copies have not been canceled, refunded, returned or successfully charged back. Sponsor will explain any missing information by email and give the purchaser at least 14 calendar days to supply it or correct a minor error. This process verifies an existing timely submission and does not permit new orders or additional copies to be enrolled after the Submission Deadline.
Sponsor will request only information reasonably needed to determine eligibility, payment and the rebate amount. Sponsor will not deny a valid rebate based on undisclosed criteria or delay verification unreasonably. If an order is still awaiting publication or fulfillment, Section 11 applies rather than requiring evidence that does not yet exist.
11. Publication delays and canceled orders
The currently scheduled publication date is January 12, 2027. A delay in publication or fulfillment does not, by itself, cancel eligibility for an otherwise qualifying preorder, including if the Book becomes available after the Game. The original preorder remains enrolled, and any rebate triggered by a Qualifying Event is paid after the order is paid, fulfilled and verified under Sections 10 and 12.
No rebate is paid on an unpaid reservation, failed payment or canceled order. If publication is permanently canceled and the order is canceled or refunded, no rebate is due for that order. A new purchase made after the applicable purchase cutoff does not replace a canceled preorder for purposes of eligibility. The Promotion does not change the retailer’s obligations or the purchaser’s statutory rights concerning delays, cancellations or refunds.
12. Rebate delivery and timing
Sponsor will arrange delivery through Tremendous of a digital Visa prepaid card, or a secure link to access or redeem that card, to the email address provided with the preorder proof. For screenshots previously received by Sponsor, delivery will use the submitting email address in Sponsor’s records. Sponsor may verify an email-address correction before changing the delivery address. Rebates for multiple eligible copies may be combined or delivered in more than one card, provided the total face value equals the full rebate due.
Once the required proof has been supplied, no separate post-event rebate claim is required. Sponsor will send the card or redemption link no later than 15 business days after the later of (a) confirmation of an official result establishing that a Qualifying Event occurred and (b) completion of final payment and fulfillment verification. Business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and U.S. federal holidays. Any shorter payment deadline required by applicable law controls.
The card’s initial face value will equal the eligible rebate amount, with no Sponsor processing fee deducted. The card, including any applicable inactivity fees and expiration date, is subject to Tremendous’ terms and conditions.
Purchasers must maintain access to the delivery email and complete any disclosed card activation or redemption steps. If an email fails to arrive or a link does not work, contact Sponsor at [email protected]. Sponsor will reasonably assist with verification and redelivery; a failed email alone does not eliminate an otherwise valid rebate. Card redemption and spending are subject to the disclosed issuer terms.
If Visa fulfillment becomes unavailable for reasons outside Sponsor’s reasonable control, Sponsor may offer an alternative of equal value with the purchaser’s consent, or as otherwise required by law. Any substitute must preserve the full rebate amount and applicable payment deadline.
13. Returns and continuing eligibility
A qualifying preorder must remain paid and must not have been canceled, refunded, returned, reversed or successfully charged back. These rules apply to physical and digital copies. Canceling an order before shipping or returning a Book after delivery makes that copy ineligible. A partial return or refund affects only the corresponding copy or amount.
If a qualifying copy is returned or refunded after the rebate has been issued, Sponsor may, to the extent permitted by law, recover only the rebate value attributable to that copy or refunded amount. Nothing in these Terms restricts ordinary retailer return rights or other rights provided by law. The failure of a Qualifying Event to occur does not itself create an additional right to a refund of the Book purchase.
14. Fraud and administration
Sponsor may reject a submission based on reasonable evidence of forged or materially altered proof, duplicate claims for the same copy, unauthorized payment, material false statements or other fraud directed at the Promotion. Buying multiple genuine copies or using multiple orders is permitted and is not, by itself, abuse. Sponsor will explain a rejection and provide a reasonable opportunity to correct an error or supply supporting records.
If fraud, a technical failure or circumstances outside Sponsor’s reasonable control materially prevent the Promotion from operating as described, Sponsor may take only the steps reasonably necessary to address the problem, subject to applicable law. Those steps may not retroactively eliminate valid eligibility or an earned rebate except to the extent fulfillment is prohibited by law. Event postponement and cancellation are governed by Section 7. Sponsor’s arrangements with service providers do not reduce its payment obligations under these Terms.
15. Privacy and taxes
Sponsor collects the contact information, order details and purchase documentation participants submit to administer the promotion, verify eligibility, prevent fraud, communicate with participants and deliver rebates. Information may be shared with service providers assisting with these purposes, including Tremendous for rebate delivery, or as required by law. Sponsor retains this information only as long as reasonably necessary to administer the promotion, resolve disputes and satisfy legal record-keeping obligations. Participation does not by itself constitute consent to unrelated marketing. For privacy questions or requests to access, correct or delete your information, contact [email protected]. Requests will be handled subject to applicable law and required record retention.
Purchasers are responsible for any taxes legally applicable to their rebates. Sponsor may request information reasonably necessary to meet applicable reporting requirements. These Terms do not represent that every rebate is taxable.
16. Independent promotion and transferability
The Promotion is offered by Millman Media Inc. The NFL, its teams and players, participating retailers, and Visa are not sponsors or endorsers of the Promotion. League, team and card-network names are used only to identify the event or rebate method. No league or team affiliation is implied. Promotion eligibility and the right to receive a rebate are nontransferable; use of an issued card is governed by its issuer’s terms.
17. Applicable law, arbitration, and class action prohibition
Questions or disputes about eligibility, copy allocation or payment should first be directed to [email protected] with the relevant order number and submission details. These Terms are governed by the laws of Connecticut, without depriving a purchaser of mandatory consumer protections that apply under the law of the purchaser’s residence. Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived.
By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you agree to resolve any dispute through binding arbitration administered by JAMS. All disputes submitted to JAMS will be resolved through confidential, binding arbitration before one arbitrator. Arbitration proceedings will be held in Connecticut or may be conducted telephonically or via video conference for disputes alleging damages less than $10,000.
You further agree that any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms and Conditions is personal to you and that any dispute will be resolved solely through individual arbitration and will not be brought, heard, or decided as a class arbitration, class action, collective action, private attorney general action, or any other type of representative proceeding.
18. Other terms
Sponsor will administer the Promotion consistently with these Terms and applicable law. Short-form advertising should be read together with these Terms, but these Terms do not excuse misleading advertising or eliminate rights already promised to earlier purchasers. No provision excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision once does not waive future enforcement.
